Halloween Party

October 22, 2011

Today we went to a Halloween Party thrown especially for Bigs and Littles by a sorority and fraternity at the University of Nevada, Reno. The party was held at one of the ballrooms at "The Joe," the nickname for the Joe Crowley Student Union at UNR. The sorority sisters and fraternity brothers put a lot of work into the party and had lots of games and crafts for the kids (and the adults) to do.  It was costume-optional, but we chose to dress up. L was a wizard (she was actually Scream, but decided to leave the mask in the car) and I was a cowgirl who lost her boots (a.k.a. throw on a cowboy hat and western shirt). When we got there, L and her two friends that were also there started at the cookie decorating station. As would be expected from 9-year olds, the finished products contained more decoration than cookie, and were mostly gobbled down before arriving at the next station. After the coloring station, wiffle ball toss, pumpkin and sugar skull decorating, nasty brains game (stick your hand in a box and guess what you're feeling), cake walk, twister, ring toss, face painting, a little snacking, and lots of candy (phew!!), it was time to go. It was another fun adventure.
At the coloring station (note mostly-eaten, decorated cookie).
Pumpkin decorating
Sugar skull decorating.
Twister (obviously).
Until our next adventure . . .
